Manual vs automatic: which should you learn in?
Manual and automatic lessons can both be the right choice. The key difference is licence flexibility: passing in an automatic normally restricts you to automatic vehicles.

The licence difference
If you pass a manual category B car test, you can drive both manual and automatic cars in that category. If you pass in an automatic, your licence is normally restricted to automatic cars.
That restriction matters if you expect to drive work vehicles, shared family cars, older cars, or hire cars where manual may still be common.

Learning difference
Manual lessons include clutch control and gear selection, which can take time. Automatic lessons remove that mechanical workload, so some learners can focus sooner on road judgement.
